The work of modernization and development of new aircraft are under special control of the president and defense minister.
In addition, due to the modernization of the Tu-160M and Tu-95MS strategic bombers and the resumption of production of the Tu-160M aircraft, the air component of strategic nuclear forces increases significantly.
In July, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Aleksei Krivoruchko reported that the PAK DA will be built with the use of stealth technologies. In October, the public procurement website announced bids for the development of the new aircraft’s engine.
In accordance with the requirements, the main and secondary electronic engine systems must guarantee a flight duration of the bomber for up to 30 hours.
Fuel supply and hydromechanical control systems should operate at close to zero overloads and negative up to 2.7 g, with temperatures between -60 ° C and + 50 ° C. The minimum useful life will be 12 years with the possibility of extension up to 21 years.
Another requirement is that the engine must be resistant to the effects of nuclear radiation.
At the beginning of the year, then-Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin expressed hope that the new long-range aircraft would be tested between 2023 and 2024. According to him, this year Tupolev will start the active phase of projection of PAK DA.
When Russian President Vladimir Putin came to power in the Eurasian Giant, he made it an absolute priority to revive Russian military advancement and to update all arsenal. This was especially crucial after the Russian military was left to rot and rust under the disastrous period of Yeltsin’s rule. Today, Russia is once again a military power and is a leader in advancing military technology and weapons, so much so that it is now a lead exporter.
