Russia Sees Minimum Wage Increase


MOSCOW, RF – The minimum wage is set to rise to 11,280 rubles from January 1st, 2019, as was reported by the Ministry of Labor.

According to the Russian legislation, the annual minimum wage is set to an amount equal to the full subsistence minimum of the working-age population in the whole country for the second quarter of the previous year, the Federal News Agency reports .

It is also noted that this change affected at least 3.7 million workers, with about 2.2 million of them working in state and municipal institutions.

In 2018, the minimum wage increased twice. On January 1st, it was increased to 9 thousand 489 rubles, and on May 1 – to 11 thousand 163 rubles. Total minimum wage increased by more than 43%.
