Labouring Under A False Narrative – On The UK’s 2019 Election Outcome And What It Means For ‘Left’ Parties Elsewhere

Published 2019-12-19 13:00:56 by Curwen Ares Rolinson in Anglo-5, Democracy, Eu, Finance, Headline-News, Nato, Politics, United-Kingdom

In many ways, this should have been UK Labour’s election to lose. Or, at least, do a helluvalot better on with the Cons on the back, flat, bear-trapped-and-mangled foot. Despite key campaign issues of Brexit, out-of-touch if not downright unrepresentative political elites, and an incumbent government suffering dang near Italian levels of instability [seriously, how else to describe a situation of it being on its third leader and third election inside what would otherwise have been a single Parliamentary term, alongside a state of literal brother-against-brother civil war inside its main Caucus] … … Labour managed to lose while fielding… Continue ->

BEIJING – People’s Liberation Army Navy has officially adopted into service its first (partially) domestically-built aircraft carrier, the second carrier in its naval fleet, at a key base on the shores of the disputed South China Sea, official Chinese media reported. Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the official commissioning ceremony of the country’s first (partially) home-built aircraft carrier, the Shandong, at a naval port in Sanya in China’s southern Hainan Province, on Tuesday afternoon, the state broadcaster CCTV reported. The Chinese leader, who is overseeing a comprehensive plan to modernize the Chinese military by developing everything from stealth jets to… Continue ->

Published 2019-12-19 11:00:20 by Drago Bosnic in Anglo-5, Defense, Eu, Eurasia, Headline-News, Nato, Politics, Russia, United-States

MOSCOW – NATO military exercises in the Baltic States, Poland, and in the Black and Baltic Seas indicate that the Alliance is preparing for a large-scale conflict, Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov told foreign military attaches on Tuesday. “Military activities are increasing in the Baltic States and Poland, in the Black and Baltic Seas. The intensity of the bloc’s military exercises is growing. Their scenarios point to NATO’s deliberate preparation to using their forces in a large-scale military conflict,” Gerasimov was quoted by the Krasnaya Zvezda (Red Star) newspaper as saying. At the same time, the Alliance… Continue ->

US Senate Just Voted for Potential WW3

Published 2019-12-19 10:00:18 by Drago Bosnic in Anglo-5, China, Defense, Eu, Eurasia, Finance, Headline-News, Mena, Nato, Politics, Russia, Syria, Turkey, United-States

TEHRAN (FNA)- The US Congress passed a defense bill for 2020 that includes new sanctions on contractors who are helping build Gazprom’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline, as the curbs are aimed at preventing its completion, which is still expected this year. The US Senate has voted for a $738 billion defense budget, which includes sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and military assistance to Ukraine, according to the results of the vote, Sputnik reported. The vote in the Republican-controlled Senate was 61-6 in favor of the National Defence Authorisation Act, or NDAA. The legislation calls for mandatory sanctions… Continue ->

US Defense Secretary: ‘US to Stay in Syria for Years to Come’

Published 2019-12-19 09:00:58 by Drago Bosnic in Anglo-5, Finance, Headline-News, Isis, Mena, Nato, Politics, Syria, United-States

WASHINGTON, D.C./DAMASCUS – According to US Defense Secretary Mark Esper and General Mark Milley, the Empire of Bases will continue to have occupying troops inside Syria for many years, and that it is “hard to foresee anytime soon” when the US might leave. They claim this presence continues to be about the ISIS threat, and that it would be a long time before regional forces in Syria could fight on their own. It’s not clear what regional forces are even being referred to, as the American occupying troops are centered in a very small area at this point. Moreover, the… Continue ->

THE SIGNS OF A CORRECT SPIRITUAL LIFE

Published 2019-12-19 08:00:24 by Guest Author in Faith, Headline-News

By Archimandrite Andreas (Konanos) – Someone once asked me, “How do I know that I’m leading a proper life in the Church? Some often go to church, pray, participate in the services, partake of the Sacraments, but I do not see any noticeable changes in their lives, or rather, I see the same kind of people in the world; I was expecting more from them. What are the signs of a proper church life?” I cannot say that there are a certain number of signs. God does the “calculations”, because the changes are internal, secret, hidden from us externally. On… Continue ->

Jeffrey Epstein Money Man Revisited

Published 2019-12-19 01:30:21 by Guest Author in Anglo-5, Crime, Finance, Headline-News, Politics, United-States

By Steve Brown – Long before Epstein’s disputed suicide, the major media called for an end to speculation about Epstein’s source of wealth and his financial operations. In 2010 Forbes staff writer Clare O’Connor questioned whether Epstein possessed any wealth at all, while suggesting that even if he did, pursuing the source and nature of that wealth is pointless, since Epstein’s deals were done offshore. (1)   Matt Steib wrote in the July, 2019 edition of the NYMag Intelligencer that only “wild theories” exist about the nature of Epstein’s wealth. According to Steib, a market trading ponzi scheme must not… Continue ->

China’s Trade with African Countries

Published 2019-12-19 01:00:15 by Guest Author in World, China, Eurasia, Opinions

It is not a secret that China has recently been actively increasing its influence in the countries of the African continent. China’s interests in Africa become very clear if we take into account the fact that at the beginning of the 21st century, the Chinese economy faced a number of systemic problems associated, first of all, with the excess of growth rates over domestic consumption. Another problem is the acute shortage of resources for the country’s economic growth. To solve these problems, the leadership of the PRC put forward a new foreign economic strategy of active access of Chinese manufacturers… Continue ->

The Book of Trump

Published 2019-12-19 00:33:19 by Guest Author in Anglo-5, Headline-News, Israel, Mena, Politics, United-States

By Steve Brown – Benjamins talk… and Miriam Adelson is more than happy to allow the President of the United States to do the talking. And do the talking Mr Trump did, at the Diplomat Beach Resort meet-up of the Israeli American Council this weekend in Hollywood, Florida.    Miriam Adelson’s sponsorship of the Israeli American Council over AIPAC is an interesting development, perhaps because AIPAC is considered too liberal to suit the Adelson view? …one can only surmise. Or perhaps AIPAC is no longer the flavour of the month for hedge fund trillionaires, and the quest for billionaire patronage to… Continue ->

Genocide, Sanctions and Incirlik: Erdoğan Will Not Kick Out NATO From Its Bases Despite Threats

Published 2019-12-19 00:00:16 by Paul Antonopoulos in Anglo-5, Eurasia, Headline-News, Turkey, United-States

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has dropped a bombshell by announcing that he could shut down the NATO-controlled Incirlik airbase that hosts U.S. nuclear bombs and the U.S. missile warning radar at Kurecik military base, in response to Washington’s threats of sanctions against Turkey. These nuclear bombs are of course placed purposefully close to Russia. The Incirlik air base in the southern Turkish province of Adana is used by the U.S. Air Force while the U.S. military also maintains a missile warning radar in the Kurecik district in Turkey’s southeastern Malatya province, which is part of NATO’s missile defense system… Continue ->
