Norman Rockwell and the Rediscovery of America’s Moral Compass

Published 2019-12-24 21:50:47 by Matthew Ehret in Headline-News, Russia, United-States

A great poet once said that you can judge a nation by how it honors (or fails to honor) its artists. In many ways, the soul of a nation is entirely shaped by the artists which that society has produced. This makes perfectly good sense, as an artist is able to portray the better ideals which that society yearns to become and can convey concepts on a nearly subconscious level that may either uplift our self conception to the divine or inversely inflame our basest passions. An artist can also awaken truthful moral lessons and temper raw emotions of a… Continue ->

MOSCOW – Every now and again the CIA does its best to appear relatable, and every time the agency gets put back in its place. Now, NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden hijacked a festive tweet to slam the CIA’s torture practices. “It’s *snow secret* that we love winter,” the clandestine agency tweeted on Saturday, marking the first day of winter in the US, RT reported. Snowden was acerbic in his response, tweeting, “It’s *snow secret* that you tortured Gul Rahman for weeks at a black site, then chained him naked to a concrete floor until he died in the near-winter cold.”… Continue ->

Published 2019-12-24 02:00:51 by Paul Antonopoulos in Eurasia, Headline-News, Mena, Russia, Syria

MOSCOW – Western countries have tried to use humanitarian aid to undermine Syria’s sovereignty, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday. The statement followed a Russian-sponsored UN Security Council resolution on providing aid to Syria. On Friday, Russia and China vetoed a Security Council resolution tabled by the so-called “humanitarian troika” – Germany, Belgium and Kuwait – that would extend humanitarian aid deliveries to Syria by three control points for one year. However, Russia’s resolution, which would extend aid delivery by only six months and reduce the number of UN crossing points to two, failed to win the nine votes… Continue ->
