How to Conquer Tyranny and Avoid Tragedy: A Lesson on Defeating Systems of Empire

By Cynthia Chung It is common today to be confronted with the belief that any country, any civilization that gains a certain degree of power, will be destined to become an empire. After all, we are in an American system of empire right now that is presently clashing with competing “systems of empire” from the East, correct? Well, this is at least, the geopolitical thinking that has been driving 75 years of cold war to this present day. That despite us being told that the cold war ended in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall, it is rather… Continue ->

The Forgotten Russian/American Struggle to Break the British Empire
Published 2020-06-03 21:43:29 by Matthew Ehret in Anglo-5, Canada, Headline-News, Russia, United-Kingdom, United-States
In a recent paper entitled ‘Tomorrow’s Arctic: Theatre of War or Cooperation?’ I introduced readers to the US-Russian grand design which shaped not only the sale of Alaska in October 1867 to the USA for $7.2 million, but also Russia’s involvement in the American Civil War as Czar Alexander II arranged the deployment of Russian military fleets to San Francisco and New York. Even though President Lincoln and Czar Alexander II were both known as great reformers and emancipators for their common commitment to free slaves and serfs, both leaders were assassinated before their grand visions could come to fruition. In… Continue ->

Rule by Covid Fear : Biosecurity and Politics
Published 2020-06-03 20:35:35 by Guest Author in Eurasia, Headline-News, Italy, Opinions, Politics
By Giorgio Agamben – What is most striking about the exceptional measures that have been set in motion in our country (and in many others too) is the inability to see them outside of the immediate context they apparently function in. Hardly anyone seems to have attempted—as any serious political analysis would require—to interpret these measures as symptoms and signs of a broader experiment, in which a new paradigm of governance over people and things is at play. Already in a book published seven years ago (Tempêtes microbiennes, Gallimard 2013)—one that now merits an attentive rereading—Patrick Zylberman described a process by… Continue ->

By Anna Brees – Originally at OffGuardian – Published Jun 3, 2020 FRN Prof Robert Endres is leader of the biological physics group and the physics of life network at Imperial College London. He sits down with independent journalist Anna Brees to discuss his issues with the Imperial Model. “I am a fundamental research scientist who uses his quantitative physics background to analyse biological data and to develop predictive models, mostly for processes at the cellular scale. In this interview, I discuss the importance of a broad public debate of the Covid-19 health crisis, which should encompass the various scientific opinions, as… Continue ->

Trump says if Russia were G7 Member then Problems would be Easier to Solve
Published 2020-06-03 18:23:50 by Joaquin Flores in Anglo-5, Eurasia, Headline-News, Opinions, Russia, United-States
US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox radio that the problems in the world would be easier to solve if Russia were a part of the G7. The return of Russia to the summits of the G7 format requires common sense, since half of the issues discussed at these meetings are connected with Russia. The host asked the American leader what Russian President Vladimir Putin had done to gain his confidence and return to the club of the leading countries of the world. “Well, he helped us with the oil industry, which is good for him, too, and we raised… Continue ->

Facts Vs. Fake. A Worldwide Lockdown of Everything

By Peter Koenig Global Research, June 03, 2020 Region: USA Theme: Intelligence, Media Disinformation, Science and Medicine Do you know who coined the curse, “conspiracy theory” or accusation, “you are conspiracy theorist!” – It was nobody less than the CIA in the 1950s, to silence those who saw through the lie of the Cold War against the Soviet Union. This was a complete lie by US war strategists, to install fear in the population in general and in Europeans in particular and to boost the American Military Industrial complex – and presenting a constant threat to the communist Soviet Union. A complementary phrase developed in… Continue ->

MAJOR: Russia Adopts Nuclear First Strike Policy
Published 2020-06-03 13:42:06 by Joaquin Flores in Eurasia, Headline-News, Russia
MOSCOW – Earlier in the week, Vladimir Putin amended the Fundamentals of State Policy of the Russian Federation in the Field of Nuclear Deterrence, by means of presidential decree. The decree sets out that Russia’s nuclear deterrence policy is defensive in nature and is aimed at maintaining the potential of nuclear forces at a level sufficient for this. It also claims it guarantees protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. The decree alters official policy but comes more closely with the reality of the posture that has developed as a result of the US’ policy since at least… Continue ->

Turkmenistan has Remained Free of Coronavirus by Denying WHO Entry into the Country
Published 2020-06-03 12:18:48 by Joaquin Flores in Eurasia, Headline-News, Turkmenistan
ASHGABAT – Turkmenistan has denied entry to WHO representatives, and has declared that there is no coronavirus in the country. The country appears to have concerns that allowing WHO to enter the country would be related to starting an epidemic in the country. Turkmenistan has banned ‘social hysteria’ indicators such as social distancing, wearing masks and gloves, or even media chatter about introducing such. The WHO delegation, which intended to visit Turkmenistan a month ago, never reached this country, Sputnik reports. The visit is still in the plans, according to recent reports. But it appears to be a waiting game… Continue ->
