Public figures have appealed to the head of the Supreme Council for Audiovisual Resources of France, Olivier Schramek, with a request to revoke the license of RT France TV channel “in the name of preserving civil peace”.

Public figures stated their request in an open letter published by the newspaper Le Monde.

The authors of the appeal said that the Russia Today TV channel is accused by the leaders of the United States and Europe of sowing discord and weakening democracy.

It is emphasized that due to the fact that RT allegedly broadcasts propaganda of the Kremlin, the US authorities obliged the channel to register as a foreign agent.

The signatories also recalled that British Prime Minister Theresa May accused the Russian media of “pushing the British people to disengage,” and Spain’s Defense Minister Maria Dolores de Coppédal condemned Russia’s interference in the internal affairs of the kingdom.

RT France opened its new studio in Paris on December 18th 2017.
